We lost some topics because I'm partitally blimd and was mass removing topics earlier. I'm sorry, I should have been moving them to the Trash Can and being slightly more careful, but it was 50+ pages in GCC that needed removing, and I made a mistake in my rush to get it done.

As for the captcha thing, I had that set up already, I believe. I'll take a look at it again. I'm not shutting down registrations just yet. I do have an idea, if we get hammered again like today, however, that I'll be motr agreeable with.

[Edit]I have something installed, but haven't had the chance to test it out.

Never say never or always. In most cases, there is an exception to anything you can think of that you might use either word in. "Most likely" and "highly improbable" in a lot of those cases would ring true, but not never/always.

So, not possible to shut down registration, and reopen it when you're ready to test?

No, it's possible. But it's also what they want me to do. They are trying to make me want to give up on this place. Notice how they made that blast of spam after I made my previous statement? I'm starting to think this is someone that has a personal vestment in seeing this place finally die.

Narshe, the sequel?  ::shudder::  If registration equals automatic membership, I just want us to close the automatic part and have one of us activate the account after we're contacted by those interested parties.  Maybe require a referral?

Don't want to do the blame game, but there was one member who is angry over the fact they still don't own this site, and probably got extra mad with guardian now in charge.

Here's an alt solution. Filter all newbie posts from showing publicly.
If there's a legit post, can always be approved.

edit: i reported my one pm to admins, so you can hopefully see the message

I'm sure the unsaid member has no reason to care if all I do (so far, anyway) is fund the site and wear the banner.  I am, after all, keeping our beloved site around.  A grudge like that would make no sense.

KoH: let's not open old wounds, let's keep them closed. I doubt he hasn't thought of such. I assume all the power Guardian has is to pay for the bills from what I've read of his responses. Rowan still has the power here.

Guardian has access to almost everything. And by almost, I mean I forgot to send him the info to login and pay for the url itself. He has every right to make decisions in my brief absences for the good of the community.

That being said...has there been any spam the past few days at all? I haven't seen any, but I haven't tested out the mod I installed, either.

Doesn't look like it. I wouldn't hold our breath yet, though.

Rowan, any chance of restoring those GCC posts which were from us?
