I've said it before and I'll say it again. Learn how to code, yourself. If you have time to sit at home and stew over a stupid grudge from almost a decade ago, you have time to improve your skillset.

On a side note, if you don't have a copyright filed as of 2001, you might want to change that on the main page, before you get yourself in trouble with the copyright people. Not sure if it's illegal to claim or not, but if you don't have it, you shouldn't post it.

You are the world's worst lately at using proper English grammar. To whatever few people actually come here, still, he's talking about speedrun competitions. It's a "race" to see who finishes the game(s) first.

And since when do you know what Janus was or was not a part of? At the time, he was busy getting his own life in order.

You might want to make clear to those who don't follow speed running in general what exactly you mean by racing. That was the primary reason Aliem/Janus shut you down when you first suggested it. We literally thought you were talking about (car) racing games.

Uh, last time I checked, anything with Link and/or Zelda in it is a Nintendo IP. Just because the graphics are a little different doesn't change that fact.

Wrong.  possession of roms is NOT across the board illegal (Jurisdictional rules apply, as ever).  Downloading them is a grey area if you own a copy, but uploading and distributing is always illegal.

In my experience, if it's illegal anywhere, it's a good idea to not allow it on a website, in general. And to be clear, in response to Zel's comment, I was referencing commercial roms, not homebrew. I rarely ever have anything to do with homebrew roms, so it's an afterthought.

i had a LOT of original style graphics that got scrapped because Winter Mute THREW A HOLY HISSY FIT about the Christian symbology in Zelda 2.  I Plan on redoing a lot of that, even as damn much as i HATE redoing things, some of that never really got finished anyway.

that being said if anyone has THAT BIG a problem with the symbology, I am Sure Rowan and I can find a way to de- interlace some of the Christianity out of it.  I am fine with that.  The only exception to that, is I will NOT budge on the Cross item, except to replace it with the lens of truth if demanded, which also has a cross on it  ironically..  That is part of the game, and it's that way for a reason.

Maybe what can be done is to make Patches that change the graphics around to suit different cultures.  Because I can DEFINITELY see non Judeo religions getting a bit  uncomfortable with the graphics sets that I originally had made for this.  however it would be up to other person to make the graphics to replace the ones that they find unwanted.  I will not have a repeat of the incident where i made a beautiful piece of Isalmic artwork to appease someone, and they got in trouble for commissioning  a "non Muslim to render holy artifacts in a heretical fashion."  I had to destroy all copies of that, and personal call, explain he did not pay me to make that,  and apologize to the guys church leader to save him getting flogged for that.  No thanks again on that.

I'm gonna make a firm no on any symbology from any religions from reality being used. One, it doesn't really fir into the world Hyrule exists, in, unless you're planning on making this into a game (somehow) based on Earth, it just doesn't make sense. And I read the conversations on the board about the Cristian based symbology. Unless Wintermute said something else in private, there wasn't much in the way of a hissy fit, it was more like him trying to avoid throwing in something that didn't fit in. But meh, we'll discuss this later.

Also, I can't post anything on GU for the graphics, because I am fairly sure that a fairly good case could be made by Nintendo that our graphics fall under their copyrights, unless I understand copyright laws incorrectly. And honestly, you don't want them sniffing in your general direction, as can be clearly seen the by the recent shutdown of that OoT clone. I never saw any clear indication from what I read, but I presume it was the guy that remade the engine in Unreal.

We've made arrangements for me to continue working on Z2E, but it is not a priority, right now. I'm more involved with GU still than I originally expected, but Zeo doesn't exactly have anyone else stepping up to help with what he needs done.

That being said, I was looking at what we have for overworld graphics a couple weeks ago, and I feel like we were being overambitious with the world graphics. I've been tinkering with learning more about pixel art for my personal game idea, and I feel like I can take the original graphics and make something more fitting than Wintermute's planned ones (which are great graphics, they just don't match the overall art style of the game). Being that there are only a handful of graphics to work on, it shouldn't take much time to get something to look at, once I get started.

I think SMF has a reputation system by default, I just never turned it on because people get butthurt about popularity being higher with other members, easily. After the debacle with Lady Venom, I definitely wasn't keen on dealing with it, again.

Add roms to that list. I looked into it at some point in time, and possession of roms is in fact illegal due to copyright infringement, regardless of whether or not you own the actual cartridge. It's not a very sought after offense, to my knowledge, but I'd suggest not allowing it, just in case someone goes on a witch hunt.

You might want to word on yuor wording on that. Not many people are gonna give you all the information an id can provide.

Arcade Discussion / Re: Arcade coming back?
October 08, 2020, 11:00:37 AM
The major problem with the arcade hack I had installed was that it was using games that weren't designed specifically for it. And the hack wasn't all that well maintained, either. Coupled with SMF automatically uninstalling any hacks before upgrading the software, it was a chore to get anything that was worth the effort.

As I stated before, I have backups of everything that was stored on the site. I'm currently working on getting all of Guardian's stuff to him. As far as OZ goes, the closest thing to a current developer for it is lukex, and he took everything offsite quite some time ago. I haven't checked on his progress in some time, however. Anyone else wanting anyhting that might have been on the server is welcome to try contacting me. The quickest method is on the Discord server.

On that note, check the restricted usernames section, I think it's called. A lot of what's in there was a response to bots spam regging.

If you need help with learning how the current front page is coded, let me know, and I can do what I can. I don't think I still have access to the server, so I'd have to rely on any copies I might have saved on local disk.

Also, a note on updating SMF? There are two types of upgrade packages. Get the larger of the two, upload it to the forum directory, and unzip it, making sure to overwrite files, when it asks. You'll then need to use the update script that is included in the zip to update the database. Easy peasy

Ok, my eyes refuse to let me even try and read all of that, but let me give you some advice.

Rules. You made too many. Back and even now. Keep it simple. People know what they should be able to get away with. Handle it on a case by case basis, unless it's something blatantly obvious, like porn linking, which always has and always should be a permaban.

Hosting. I got a VPS account, which is more expensive than a regular share account. At the time of purchase, it was a safe bet, because I didn't want other sites hosted on the same hardware to cause this site to go down. I will investigate this price discrepancy for you, if you want.

The forum. My suggestion is to delete it and start fresh, like Overlord was suggesting with Project Phoenix, ages ago. This guarantees a database that is secure and stable, and no errors, like the postcounts and number of topics (I dunno what to do to fix that particular blemish).

If you really want my help with anything, I'll be around, here and there. I'm always on the Discord server, unless I'm asleep or actually doing something (which is rare), so if you need me to tell or show you how to do something, I can do that.

Finally, and I think this is reiterating. In the WHM panel, there is a section called software or something like that. Under it, you can find the update function. This updates the software installed on the server (it's a CENTOS 7 server, I believe).

The only thing I request is you get everything transferred to your name, however all that needs to be done. For the server, you login to the support page (I believe it was the second link I sent you), and in the upper left is a box showing the user account information, along with an edit link. The Domain Service is a little trickier, we'll get it handled in time.

[Edit] I just took a look, and it's the Perfetto 3 service that I got. Note that the pricing they advertise is for those paying yearly, versus month by month, like I've been. They've really been making a lot of money off of me, simply because I couldn't afford to pay a year at a time. To look at that, from the page I mentioned above, click the box that says Services. It's also a way to get to the billing area, iirc
