Despite being busy with life, that life includes three little children who love playing video games. So, I've been playing Zelda games for the past ten years or so. My thoughts:

- Skyward Sword: this one almost brought me to tears, and I pretty much just mean the story. It was great to watch Zelda's part unfold in this, and the gameplay was awesome. The Wii controls were frustrating at first, but I got used to them and did pretty well. I can't agree with the hate on this game; it's wonderful!
- Breath of the Wild: incredible! Blew me away! At first, I thought the cartoon look was as step down after how good I thought Skyward Sword looked, but as I got into it the graphics just captivated me. Gorgeous! Gameplay was also great, returning to the open world experience of the OG Zelda. It took me less than a month to beat, but it was one of my favorite gaming experiences of all time. My older kids managed to beat this one, but my littles are busy with other things. I've become a Lynel hunter!
- Tears of the Kingdom: I almost felt like I was playing the NES Skate or Die "goofy foot style" because, as similar as the mechanics were to BotW, I kept tripping on my own too feet. Still, I managed to do well (as I often do) and it, too, blew me away. Still Lynel hunting, though this one took me a bit longer. Again, "goofy foot".
- Echoes of Wisdom: actually, I have not played this, and it's because I bear a grudge. Silly, I know, but at least my kids like it. I just felt, after the amazing experiences with its predecessors, they took a huge step back returning to 2D overworld and making it cute (it looked to me like they'd just reskinned Animal Crossing and added Zelda features). Furthermore, I was troubled by the fact that it took Nintendo 38 years to put its titular character up front, and then they didn't even let her fight; they made her make others do it for her unless she assumed the form of Link. Hell, I came up with a much better storyline that would've make for a worthy successor, but I'm no programmer and I don't know how to talk to Nintendo. >huff, huff, fake smile< I have lightened up since, but I don't know if I'll ever play it.
- Link's Awakening: I never played this on GameBoy. Actually, I never really played GameBoy. Either way, I grabbed this one and found a return to the old school more refreshing than I thought. Still working on beating it (only 5 dungeons in), and the kids love it, too.
- Twilight Princess: I put this last because I also don't want to play it. Something about the way it makes me feel just looking at people play it rubs me wrong. I've only ever played a couple of parts as a favor to LadyLion and Ice Punch, but I just can't get behind this game. Blech!

What are your Zelda experiences over the last decade?
